What is an unabridged audio book and how is it different from abridged audio books? First of all, an audio book is a recording of the contents of a published book. When we say unabridged, it means that the contents of the book have been read out loud and recorded word for word. When you listen to it, the unabridged audio book tells the story exactly as the printed book has been written. When read out loud, the book's content may be as long as twenty to forty hours' worth of recording. This is when abridged audio books come in.
